Review on ZOMEI Aluminum Portable Tripod: Professional Compact Travel for Nikon Canon Sony DSLR Cameras by Mike Sevenfourgd

Revainrating 2 out of 5

It has a camera, but that's it

What you're buying is a decent pair of feet and a poor excuse for a ball head. If you think $50 is a good price for a set of aluminum legs (price at the time of writing this), then go for it, but I would only recommend this tripod to those who don't use a tripod often can and only need one . for stills (not video) or for those buying their child's first tripod that will hold an entry-level DSLR/mirrorless camera. "Detachable monopod" is a joke. It takes some time to disassemble the components required to assemble the monopod and this is a terribly short monopod. If you need one, I would recommend the Amazon Basics 60-inch monopod. It would be easier to keep another one-piece monopod nearby than to fiddle with this contraption to make a short monopod of questionable stability. The bag that comes with it works very well. With practice, you should be able to put the tripod back in your bag. I like the cargo hook. Being able to hold a tripod helps a lot in windy conditions. He had such stability as I wanted. This tripod rotates a bit slowly. The bolted connections work, but I prefer the lever-lock leg style and twist-grip center post for a quick setup. The leg straps are strong and there's a good locking mechanism that allows you to change the direction of the leg for low-angle shooting or storage. The head is almost useless. It's all plastic and will change your camera's position as you tighten the screws. Don't count on it. never reach the ideal level. There is a leveling bubble on the side which disappears when the camera is put on making it useless. It's actually worse because if you try to use the groove to put your camera in portrait mode, that spirit level will hit the frame and disrupt your positioning. The Arca-Swiss plate is cheap plastic and the clamp looks like it's about to break when you try to clamp it. IF YOU VALUE YOUR CAMERA DO NOT USE THIS BALLHEAD. One day this will break, and your decision to buy a tripod with a cheap ball head will turn into an expensive new camera or lens to replace the one that fell to the ground after the clip broke. And the last thing I will mention. is that this ball head is not suitable for video work. A video head/moving head/pan/tilt head (all names of the same style) would work much better for this. This has nothing to do with my rating as you are obviously buying a ball head, but it is worth considering what you are going to shoot before buying this ball head or a new one.

Pros
  • Great for me
