These gloves do very well in the cold. They are very warm without the added heat at temperatures 15 degrees and warmer. I had to turn on the heat at lower temps, but was comfortable with the lowest heat setting. At temperatures around -20 degrees F, I had to have them on high heat just to keep my hands from freezing. I could still feel the cold, but it was tolerable.I don't like where the battery pack is located. The batteries go in the cuff of the glove and sit on the top of your wrist. This makes it a bit uncomfortable to bend your wrist and often gets in the way of your coat sleeve.
