Review on Metra 70 7003 Wiring Harness Mitsubishi by Rico Posley

If you have Mitsubishi with Infinity WHAT YOU NEED

We have a 2000 Mitsubishi Galant with an Infinity audio system. We bought a new JVC Kd-r320 dash single din cd/mp3/wma/am/fm car receiver with remote control to replace the original one that came with the car after the cd player stopped working. Not knowing anything about the wiring in our car, we went to a local store and bought what we thought was the right wiring harness for our car. It turned out (after we connected everything) that there was no sound. We needed something to hook up to an amp we didn't even know existed. So I started searching on Google. I thought it had something to do with the big round plug we removed from the old radio, although the salesman who sold us the first tether said we could just ignore the plug and there was no need. After some googling, I found that our car has an original Infinity audio system, which means we have an amplifier (found under the passenger seat). I also found this Metra 70-7003 wire harness and saw good reviews. For the price I was willing to try. As soon as the seat belt arrived. It only took us about 15 minutes to plug it in and fully install the radio to get it working as it should. This pendant is perfect! Just a small note. If you have this system but haven't bought a receiver yet, do yourself a favor and make sure the one you buy has 4 pre-outs, not just 2. That way you have a hole for each the plug from the amplifier (white, grey, green, purple). If you only have 2 amp pre outs you can do as we did and buy 2 of these Tsunami RCA701-Y2 RCA 2/female to 1/male Y patch cords (6 inch grey) and you connect the two left plugs. (white and green) together with a Y-connector, and connect the two right speaker plugs (gray and purple) together with the other Y-connector. Then connect the Y jacks to the preamp outputs on the back of the receiver. You can only control balance left to right and not decay (front to back) if you set it up that way, but it works. If you have a receiver with 4 pre-outs, you have full control over balance and fade. Just my 2 cents. I hope I can save someone else all the figuring out we had to do for an install that should have been very easy. :)

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
