Review on Dell WD19 130W Docking Station (featuring 90W Power Delivery) with USB-C, HDMI, Dual DisplayPort in Black by Dan West

Revainrating 2 out of 5

This cannot be connected to multiple displays, especially 4k displays.

I swear Thunderbolt 3 is a scam. 2 displays at 4k 60hz my ass. HDMI doesn't work either. I used this docking station with a Dell 7480 laptop with a 6th gen i7, Intel HD 520, 16GB RAM and a Thunderbolt 3 port (not just USB-c) and this laptop was on the recommended laptops list by Dell. for this particular dock. I wanted to connect my two 4k 60Hz displays to this docking station via the display port and this docking station to the TB3 port on my Dell 7480 laptop. All other ports work, but the video output is like pulling teeth. So many problems with multiple working displays. When connected, the displays appear in the configuration menu, but you cannot enable or set their resolution. Disconnect a display and then the 1080p 30Hz video out, connect another display and they both turn off. I plugged in my MacBook Pro TB3 just to make sure it's not a Dell laptop, but the Mac had the same issue as the Dell laptop. I asked one of the IT professionals who uses a lot of Dell laptops at the company I work for. and he says they never found a TB3 dock that could reliably output to multiple displays. TB3 just isn't ready. DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU INTEND MULTIPLE TB3 DISPLAYS. The best way to output laptop video to multiple displays is to connect each display to the laptop's display-out port. 1 display per port. TB3 is a scam. It only gets 2 stars because it looks nice and everything else works.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
