Generally, I'd say that shredded memory foam is a great solution. I also like the idea of the thickness being adjustable and the pouch for extra foam is a nice touch. I found it to have plenty of foam for my needs, and to have enough extra foam to create an extra little pillow. My problem with this pillow is that while much of the foam is soft and comfy, a goodly percentage of it looks like the equivalent of crust on a piece of toast. While the better shredded pieces are softer and whiter, the "crusty" pieces are clearly darker, more yellow, and harder. When I sleep, I can feel the harder pieces uncomfortably against my face. For a quality, comfortable pillow, I wish they had cut off what surely seems like the harder, outer crust, and discarded it, shredding and using only the soft, more comfortable interior sections of foam. I would hope that the more expensive shredded memory foam pillows use only the softer, more comfortable cuts of foam, but I haven't tried any others yet. I'm curious to see if this is true.
