In an attempt to replace a 35 year old pair of spats that I thought were perfect in every way, I bought a pair of Threshold spats, a pair of Black Crystal spats and these. I reach for them almost every time. These are the perfect all round leggings, quality design and materials and they were sold to me with a front closure (most like Black Crystal and the usual well known brands have a rather stiff front closure which I don't like). The sills are zippered in the back, which is good, but they are very light and not very water resistant, making them suitable for general dry weather hiking. Black Crystal is just velcro on the front and a stiffer material with a chimney shape? I like the CTO leggings as a solid replacement for my old ones and they offer a velcro closure in the front that isn't too stiff. I prefer larger leggings for comfort (just below the back of the knee, total height is about 18-19 inches) and I'm 6ft 2" tall so I bought an XL size to match other sock sizes I already had, and they eventually traded in a Large b/c XL was too big Overall good quality leggings and great value for money.
