One of these was given to me by a friend a few years ago. I live off the grid, solar during the day, generator at night, so I have to get out into that dark landscape several times each night. This light is quite bright and most importantly reliable. It also takes a long time to charge. The charging station eventually failed (I've had it for at least 5 or 6 years) so I was so glad to find a replacement. Now I have 2 lamps that fit on the same base. They hold a charge for quite a long time once charged so I always have a spare. I know most people don't live like me, but with this you always have a light that comes on when the power goes out. The base also has a soft night light that can be turned on or off. And the base rotates so you can stand it upright no matter how the exit holes are oriented.
