Review on ⌚ Ironman Sleek 50: Timex Full-Size Resin Strap Watch for Athletes by Brian Thao

"Weekly " alarm clock with decent range

August 20, 2013 I lost my watch on a trip abroad and ordered a new watch as soon as I got back. ======= July 8, 2013 Editing my original review below dated November 2012. The watch works perfectly. I have no problem with the "Hair Trigger" buttons. And so far the group has held up well. So I highly recommend this watch, especially if you want a "weekly" alarm feature. ==========I've had a Timex digital watch for years because I love the style and need the countdown and alarm features. This time I was especially looking for the version with the "Weekly" wake-up function, ie. can be set to a specific day/time (e.g. every Wednesday at 11:30); This is in addition to the standard Daily, Weekdays, Weekends alarm options. Many watches on the Timex website incorrectly list "weekly" when you first look at the descriptions, but the downloaded PDFs only list "daily, weekdays, weekends" and not "weekly". Some of these watches are also falsely advertised on Revain, but I blame Timex, not Revain. I actually bought one from Revain and returned it as soon as I found the weekly alarm didn't exist (no problem; thanks Revain). The only Timex I know of with a "weekly" function was another Ironman T54281. I've had these before but have vowed not to buy them again as the strap breaks within a short time and is not replaceable; This issue has been noted in many critical reviews on the Timex and Revain websites. I was discouraged until, after further internet surfing, I somehow found a T5K335 that actually has a 'weekly' function (confirmed when I downloaded the PDF from the Timex website) as well as a strap that was strong enough to be seemed. So I ordered it from Revain. After a few weeks so far so good; still hoping for a strap though - seems better than the T5K335 but maybe not as strong as some other Timex watches. Strap "integrated", ie it goes around the entire circumference of the watch and cannot be replaced. Why does Timex have to choose a less durable strap for its "weekly" alerts? For this reason I deduct 1 star. The following summarizes my experience: I wanted to find the right Timex, but my odds seemed pretty slim. They may all lick their lips and keep ticking, but only a few alarm clocks ring once a week.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product
