Great tripod for the price

I have just received this tripod and have not had a chance to test it in the field but my first impression is that the quality of the tripod was much better than I expected for the price. . It's HARD and heavier (in a good way) than I imagined. I love that the tripod is very versatile and has many features, but I will only mention the ones that are important to me and stand out. The fully extended height is what I was looking for. I can put it in the back of a crowded room and get the camera high enough so I'm not just photographing the back of the head of the person in front of me. It folds down to a relatively short length, but when fully folded it's a bit larger than I'd like, but it comes with a carrying case for easy transport. The ball head is good, not as "exquisite" as the more expensive ones, but it works well and smoothly. It comes with an Arca Swiss clamp and 2 plates. The included platform is perfect for clamping, but my camera has a quick release plate compatible with 3 Legged Thing Thing Peak Design Capture. It fits and holds the camera securely in place, but is a little finicky to get it right. I love that I can turn it into a monopod, but it's not a quick and easy conversion on the fly, but complex enough that I'll probably figure out what I need for the day and just get on with it (note , this is not difficult, I'm just too lazy) The flip-lock leg design seems solid, but the twist lock on the center column can be a weak link. It works great out of the box but I'm just wondering if it's the part that can eventually wear out first, only time will tell.

Pros
  • Camera and photo
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
