After a long research I bought it because of the low noise level. I even bought an oversized unit so I can run it at a lower speed to further reduce the noise. At first I was excited. A faint, almost inaudible sound of airflow could be heard on the first level. On the second level, the airflow was quite audible in a quiet room, but quite pleasant. There was no engine noise or hum that was often heard from fans, just a nice soft white noise. 7 months later, about a month after a costly filter change, the fan/motor developed an insanely annoying erratic hum, a sort of "wah-wah-wah-wah" that, while not loud, is clearly audible throughout the room. Let's face it, all of this stuff is a box with a fan and a filter. In my opinion they are all very overpriced. Given the cost, I find this quality unacceptable. Including a new set of filters which I'm currently charging over a thousand for and can't stand in a room with this thing. bad.
