I've been using several of these drives in my FreeNAS for about a year now, and when it came time for more storage, I didn't hesitate to buy more. It's nice that they provide detailed disk information for monitoring (temperature, load average, etc.) and are quiet. Impact protection is excellent too, I dropped one on the tile floor when taking it out of the box and it passed all the tests and bad blocks with no issues, not a single dead sector. Several consumer drives on my NAS have failed over the years, but none of them have even remotely failed. It's worth the slightly higher cost if you need to back up important data (or just want some peace of mind) :)
