I replaced this on a 2009 4 cylinder Malibu. I noticed that when I entered information about her car, it said this part didn't fit. This is the correct sensor for a 4 cylinder engine with electronic steering. Before you start, to be on the safe side, disconnect the negative pole of the battery. I didn't drag the whole column as mentioned in some reviews, you don't really need it. You can pull out the top half of the column, not the bottom where the motor attaches. Once you have removed the plastic parts of the dashboard and the metal bracket, all you have to do is remove the 2 screws that hold it in place. We remove the cable connectors on the column, I think there are three of them. There are several tutorials on YouTube that helped me. Make sure the wheels are straight and keep the handlebars straight before pulling out the column. You can use an elastic cord to keep the handlebars straight, that's important. You will need a large internal snap ring tool to remove and reinstall the snap ring, trust me. Use a pick to remove the old sensor, you may need to remove the retaining ring holding it in place. I did it, but I'm not sure if it's necessary. Make sure the new one is lined up properly before pulling the pin. There is a red arrow on the part, it should only go in one direction, which should be at the 12 o'clock position. An alignment tool is included (wrapped in brown paper), use it to align and press the new part into place. I didn't need to calibrate the new one as long as it was working fine and the intermittent power steering issue was resolved. Be careful when removing dashboard parts to facilitate assembly. It's actually not that hard if you have some basic mechanical skills. You'll save a lot of money if you do it yourself. Take your time.
