Readings fluctuate from moment to moment. I am sure that my temperature is not hovering around 37 degrees, but a moment later - 95.5. But while I'd like to quickly determine if I have a fever, knowing that the base readings provided by this thermometer are always low, any temperature above normal would be a useful indicator. It is very easy to use and allows quick switching between the surface (e.g. the forehead) and the ear canal. It's fine for ten bucks, but I'd like the readings to be closer to reality. The first one I ordered only worked for 2 days, then it just showed "Lo". The replacement has worked flawlessly so far.
