This item is great. BENEFITS: Features 2 stops so you can easily and accurately manually set 2-point focus. Well made aluminum and plastic material/construction. Adjustments work well and slide in and out of the rails very easily. Lots of adjustments for a good match with different lenses, side switch; Install the gear on the front or back of the base. CONS: Fine tuning isn't the best for cocking within the focus puller itself. Hard stops are very stiff due to aluminium/metal to metal. I would suggest a rubberized "O-ring" around the base of the adjustable detent pins for sound deadening and a slightly thinner focus bar landing. But that's sophistry for a man who needs to focus. I think I could get 2 o-rings from a hardware store and add them myself. Overall I am very happy with this Focus Puller. It has already improved my DSLR shots. You need quality tools to allow this to dock well and do its job. It does have an adjustment screw to increase or decrease the tension in the gear, but I feel like the range of adjustment isn't really very precise. But for the price I'd say it's perfectly acceptable and just having that friction setting is a great thing for a device in this price range.
