I got this light for a new plant tank project. I'm used to controlling the reef with Aqua Illumination lights and easily programming my own spectrum and schedule. I wanted a light that would give me the same capabilities but for fresh water and at a lower cost. As long as the plants are not in the tank I can already say that this will be a fantastic lamp for me. PROS: As I said, programmability is key to this light. You can set several times a day and then set the spectrum or temperature you want to use for the lighting. There are four color channels that you can adjust independently. You can also set it to a regional location and follow the settings for that. There are several points on the map that you can select to control your time and spectrum. light is strong. The flashlight body looks like brushed aluminum, it is very durable and attractive. Everything seems very well put together and thought through. The sliders to fit your tank are strong and will not sag when stretched. Connecting to the lamp is not difficult. There is no real learning curve here. The instructions are well structured and easy to understand. I used an iPhone and it immediately found the light and I was off and working. CONS: I haven't been able to find many, and the ones I've found aren't picky. raise it higher. The inclusion of the option to purchase an additional accessory to elevate the light above the tank would be great. Not everyone wants the light to be right at the top of the tank. The plug is huge! This can make it difficult to align the surge protector where other equipment is plugged in or if you don't have much space between the cabinet and the wall. A better option for this purpose would be a built-in power rod. CONCLUSION: This is a fantastic light! Reliable build quality, attractive looks and intuitive programming. I would buy this again without hesitation. I have considered giving the update plan 4 stars as the plants respond to it but I have great confidence in the performance of this light and if there are any issues with plant growth I will adjust my rating.
