Review on πŸ“± 360 Degree Rotating Tablet Stand for Bed with Aluminum Arm – Compatible with iPad, iPhone XS, Nintendo Switch, Kindle Fire, and 4-11 inch Devices by David Ruwala

Revainrating 5 out of 5

OMG, this thing is worth every dollar!

Let's start with some basics so you know whether or not this review is for you. I use an iPad Pro 12.9 inch and use it mainly for reading technical stuff. The one I use needs to support that kind of weight and should support the iPad in portrait mode. Out of the box it's a so-so stand like others I've tried. For example, gooseneck stands can't support the weight of the largest iPad and have a hard time moving every time you use them. So how do I turn mediocrity into perfection? Look at the photos! The first step (thanks to another Reviewers for the idea!) iPad mount The mount provided by the manufacturer is awkward to use, requiring effort to slide the iPad in and out each time. The solution is to get a magnetic mount from Revain A bit odd to insert URLs, but search for "ORASANT Strong Magnetic Tripod Mount." is the "head" that sits at the very end of my setup and holds the iPad. How do you connect it? how to connect the mount to the arm you just bought. At the very end, the bracket that holds the iPad has a small neck, a screw ring, and a bracket with a mini ball head that connects to the last metal bar you see just in front of the iPad. You unscrew this ring and you can remove the bracket from the ball head. A similar installation connects the magnetic part of the ORASANT mount to the plastic mount it is attached to. And (hooray, standards!) they share the same ball heads. So just swap them for each other! If you look at my second photo, the focal point of the photo, the black magnetic mount in the bottom third of the image, is the ORASANT mount that connects to the rest of the arm you purchased. At the very end you will see a triple magnetic head, then you will see a black ring just behind the head. Unscrew this ring and you have a ball head that connects to the rest of the arm. Step Two: Your iPad needs to be held magnetically, which means, as you can see, you need to attach some thin sheets of iron to the back. on the photo. I attached two sheet metal sections, the top section is for holding the iPad in portrait mode, the bottom section is better for holding in landscape mode. Since I use the Smart Folio as a case for my iPad, it's very easy to remove the folio from the iPad (it's magnetically attached to the edge of the iPad Pro) and slide the iPad into the magnetic mount, and then pull the iPad out of the Holder. install and close the cover again. You obviously think so, yes I tried some obvious shortcuts! Is the magnetism on the edges of the iPad (like the one used by the Smart Folio or Magic Keyboard) strong enough to hold it when you bought a potentially cheaper all-iron mount? IMHO this is unsatisfactory because you can't position the iPad properly when it's hanging on the edge. Just buy a magnetic mount, it's inexpensive! Can I attach my iPad to the mount while wearing the Smart Folio? Not very satisfactory! You can just make it work, but the magnetic force of the case's extra thickness is weak enough that the slightest wrong touch will cause it to fall off. But even without a case, the connection is quite satisfactory and doesn't look brittle at all. You can find the types of thin iron plates you need by searching "magnetic car mount metal plates". Okay at this point we now have a great connection from our iPad to this mounting arm. What will happen next? You'll see photos showing the different mounting options (and to be honest the vise that the lever comes with is pretty damn well constructed, very flexible and able to clamp a lot of different things. But I found that all of them The obvious options I tried (the nightstand options on the side or behind the headboard) were unsatisfying, the nightstand angles were always wrong, and the iPad pressed to the headboard was a few inches too close to my eyes to comfortably read your eyes , or if you watch movies lying down instead of reading in a somewhat upright position. But for me the product was so close but still unusable :-(Hence the last step. You see I attached the mount to the wall that juts out about four inches from the bed, then I put my hand on the end of this bracket (it was just a bracket I had laying around, I'm afraid you have to look for something similar at your Ha Fury or home depot.) Obviously this is NOT PERFECTLY perfect - you can (and I do) twist your arm all the way to nail it against the wall when not in use, but You still have that bracket that sticks out ten inches and if you're sharing a bed that can be problematic. But for my use of the bed, I didn't find this to be a problem since, as I did, I placed it on one side of the bed (not in the middle). In the last photo you can see the lever swinging away from the wall. The price for all this (about $50 for parts and a half hour with a bolt finder and drill) is a system that seems surprisingly good. The armrest is strong and rigid, the iPad sits exactly where it belongs, and it's very easy to position the iPad exactly where I need it, so I can read for a long time without tiring.
