I ordered this Olympus VN-8100PC digital voice recorder a few days ago and so far it has worked quite well. I had an old digital voice recorder but it didn't have a USB port so I couldn't transfer files to my computer which I wanted so I bought it. I made some recordings and put them on my computer and they sound good. All you have to do is plug it into a USB port on your computer and then you can access this device like a USB flash drive. I decided to go it alone because the older Olympus VN-6200PC model has over a hundred reviews on Revain, most of them positive, but this one is just an updated, more advanced model with 2GB of memory. I checked the Olympus website and it is very similar to the 6200PC everyone loves but with more features and a simpler layout. The main difference is the ability to record in MP3 format, the 6200PC can only record in WMA format. It also has 2GB of storage so you can record for a long time and when the storage is full you can easily transfer files from the device to your computer. The location of the OSD settings and buttons on the device is very simple. I didn't even read the manual to figure it all out, I just played around with it for a few minutes and it was pretty self explanatory, it's designed for anyone to use without having to click through heaps of settings and bullshit. just to make it work. If you buy this device, you can get a very handy accessory, the Olympus TP-7 Call Recorder. It's available here at Revain for about $[.] and has a ton of reviews, all very positive about it. I bought it with mine and it works great, today I recorded a call to test it and it worked great. The main reason for buying this digital voice recorder was to record phone conversations with the TP7. Olympus digital recorders only record in mono, so if you play a phone call through your computer's speakers/headphones, you will only hear sound from one speaker/headphone, but that's not a problem and doesn't matter, there is no music as you hear the conversation. As a side note,we hope more people will realize that the VN-6200PC is an old model and not buy it right away just because it has a lot of good reviews.I almost made it , until I went to the Olympus website and found that this 8100PC is newer and better than the 6200PC and costs almost the same If this review helped you, please leave a comment or similar :)
