The digital display is a major innovation for traditional DIY jobs: it's readable, can convert between different units of measurement, is backlit, and can be in dark work areas, and can beep when it comes to the vertical or horizontal plane - and that's for sure. It has two outstanding functions: a zeroing function (the "Ref" button) that takes measurements from this new baseline instead of absolute zero, and as a protractor (the unit is % on the middle button). This not only shows angles from an absolute plane, but from the zero line I set: a relative angle measurement. Yes, and there are two traditional spirit levels, horizontal and vertical, which, while analog and not as accurate, at least let the user know when they're close and focus on the readings. The magnet is a nice extra. Highly recommended.
