Review on πŸ”§ Upgraded Performance Carburetor & Throttle Cable Set for Honda CRF150F 2003-2014 (Carb + Throttle Cable x 1) by James Pope

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works great and cheaper than repair

We have an older version of this Kei Hin carburetor on our CRF150F which I thought replaced the original (we bought a used bike) but it does turned out that Kei-Hin come from the factory. The first owner only used pump gas (with ethanol - read about that if you have small engines) which I believe damaged the needle valve and caused fuel to constantly spill out of the overflow and even drained the tank if the fuel valve was left closed. . I ordered this to hopefully replace it last time (I only use non-ethanol fuel and encourage anyone with small engines to do the same - re-read how important this is). I managed to fit the stock choke/throttle assembly to this new carburetor and it runs like a champ. At first we had a problem, it wasn't working properly, and I couldn't get it to adjust like new carbs sometimes require. Turns out the "ears" from the clamp on the fuel line had somehow ended up between the carburetor and the intake manifold, preventing the gasket from working properly (releasing extra air after the carburetor/before the engine). I loosened the mounting screws, moved the ears, tightened, swapped the jet adjusters and it worked great. The new carburetor choke lever is spring loaded and is slightly different from the original which stays in place. Some say they swapped them out, but I didn't care, we just hold the choke for about 5 seconds (we don't typically ride in very cold temperatures) and it's operational. As an added bonus, this keeps my son from riding with a half choked valve. This and other videos with my 3 sons fourboysgarage are available on our Ytchannel. We post videos of maintenance, mods, hacks, and ride routes at various out-of-state ATV parks. Some we learn through reading/research and some we learn the hard way! In any case, we hope this can help others.
