You don't need this to get a good workout. However, this makes it much more convenient. You can even lie down and relax a little with a pillow. Yes, the pillow is worth 5 stars. And I bought it because I need this piece of equipment to make a lifestyle change, so I have to do everything in my power to make sure I look forward to using my AeroPilates machine every day since I got it have really is. the best workout especially for me with an injured knee.
