Most of these kits don't actually show a blank canvas of the real painting, they include a photo of the finished painting and then a standard blank canvas photo. It actually shows you exactly what you're getting. This one also already has different shades of color on the canvas (see photo for details). Not only does this make it easier to know where to paint, but it also acts as a grayscale tint to add depth to the painting when you mix the glaze with the paint. Of the four different kits I bought, this was the only one. I will be looking for kits with this in the future. FYI, for all paint by number kits you will (usually) need a 16 x 20 canvas. You need to gently iron the folded canvas on low heat, and then stick it on the canvas panel, and then put it on it with a weight down to dry. Cut off excess after drying. It is also highly recommended to apply a coat of Clear Acrylic Leveling Gel before painting. This makes the surface smoother, mistakes are easier to erase, and gives the image a deeper, translucent look when painted over. I also suggest mixing a small amount of glaze (as much as possible) into each small glass to bring back more depth. So there is a lot of groundwork to get started! It's best to fill in the colors as indicated, then go through the image again to add more detail and blending. A second layer with more icing is usually always better. I had brushes, no problems with that.
