I'm usually 8-10 years old so I ordered medium but ended up swapping for large. It's really high waisted (as seen above the belly button) which is what I wanted. However, it fits like a pair of tights or a belt (good thing) so I figured I needed more breathing room! Especially if I plan to wear it to chill out at the beach or pool! I was a little pissed that the larger size costs more.
