This monitor stand is very convenient when you don't have much space on the desk. It allows you to place your laptop under the monitor and elevates the monitor to a more ergonomic height. Very convenient power management on the front panel. The Dell E-Monitor stand has only one problem: the release button. This has been a problem since the day this product was released and for some reason Dell hasn't done anything to fix it. Our company uses more than a hundred Dell E-Series laptops with docking stations and monitor stands. And at least 30% of them have a problem with the release button on the monitor stand. This button does not release the laptop from the dock, while the release button on the dock itself works fine. We work around this issue by swapping out docking stations and monitor stands until we find a pair that works well with a specific laptop. However, if you're a single user, you might find yourself in a situation where you have to reach for a button on the dock to get your laptop out. Otherwise this product is good. By the way, there is no alternative or non-original product, so you only have to decide whether you prefer such a setup on your desk or not.
