I wrote about my difficulty falling asleep when my upstairs neighbors turned on the air conditioner in their room all night. This air conditioner is in the room, not by the window. It vibrates and rumbles in my bedroom, which is directly below hers. These headphones solved the problem. I connect it to my iPhone, turn on the rain sounds and fall asleep to it. As soon as the sounds of rain start, I no longer hear the rumbling. I'd still like to sleep without all of that, but I'll have to wait until fall or winter when they won't turn on the air conditioning at night. I know the reviewers here have mostly focused on the other features these headphones offer (and yes, I also liked that there are 3 different headphone sizes), but I'm not that interested in all the bells and whistles; I just wanted them to do what they do so I'm over the moon! Also, no one else focused on my problem. So if anyone else has a similar problem, this is definitely the way to go.
