I suspect it's because it's a PET plastic product as the other PET clamshells I've bought are also very thin and are thin, the only difference is that there are no holes in the other! I'm glad I saw the hole before filling it in because that would be a huge mess so check each one to make sure you don't have any holes either. They're a bit larger than other PET clamshells I've bought direct from the vendors, so that's a plus. They hold 2.5 ounces to the top, which is great except when you want to add extra elements like crystals and the like to the wax melts.
