Tested on a recent scout weekend trip. The forecast promised rain, so my phone was in my pocket and the route map in another. I'm so glad I bought them and that my phone was in one when I decided to take an unplanned dip while crossing the creek. The bag was 100% submerged in water during that ugly splash in the creek. I got tangled in the carrying strap during the fall and there was a small tear in the pocket right where the neck strap attaches to the bag (hence the 4 stars) but my phone was still dry! They're definitely worth the money, but they can be improved by strengthening the plastic that surrounds the cable. I would still buy again! I had no trouble opening them as some other reviewers have mentioned. The velcro is strong but unless you need an arthritis cap on an Aleve bottle you shouldn't have any problems :)
