Been going back and forth to buy this for years. I live in an old apartment building with double casement windows where the top window is practically painted over and cannot be rolled down. Therefore, there is no original mechanism that allows cleaning. But due to the pandemic, I'm spending a lot of time indoors and looking out the windows, so it seems like it was worth the investment to clean them. - Soak my windows. They hadn't been cleaned in 5 years so there was a build up outside. I made a solution of hot water, a squirt of dish soap, and a few large sips of vinegar, shook it, and poured it into a spray bottle. I used a spray bottle to drench the outside and inside of the jar. Because when the window is open enough for my hand to reach out and spray from the outside, the top rises out of reach, I could only get in from the top from the outside by going in from the inside and spraying down. After getting wet, I attached a safety cord to the belt loop of my pants. IT IS IMPORTANT. I attached the glider to the bottom of the window, closed it and slowly raised the glider perpendicular to the top of the window and began the "S" motion. As long as your window gets wet, this works amazingly. I ended up making a second try because my windows were pretty dirty. When I tried to pull the glider straight up too quickly, it snapped, but a safety line attached to a belt loop saved it from falling three stories. My window is divided into two narrow panes, leaving just enough room for a very short turn. I got small fantails that were missed pulling straight down on the last run with a horizontal glider. This creates a lot of friction, so take your time and wet the window inside and out. Cleaned with a microfiber cloth - as the window was already dry by this point I dampened the cloth with water and this part was much easier than the initial cleaning. My windows look great.
