I've had quite a few portable bluetooth speakers over the last 5 years. I have/had speakers like Beolit, some Sony XB series speakers, House of Marley Get Together, Belkin SoundForm Elite etc. This speaker stands out as one of those speakers that produces louder sound than it looks. It gets really loud, has depth and presence, and delivers a full, rich stereo experience. Keep in mind what surface you are placing this speaker on and what environment you are in. This has a strong effect on the reproduced sound quality. Out of the box it mostly sounds great. As with most Bluetooth speakers the bass is too strong. I found, that the frequencies around 80-200 Hz were boosted too high, making the woofer too harsh. This would be maxed out and cause distortion at higher volumes for many genres. It also drowned out the mids and fine details of the music. After reducing those frequencies a bit, I'm left with a slightly more balanced, neutral sounding speaker that I find ideal, especially if you want to crank it up. sound (I wouldn't call these "Hi-Fi" at all), they don't distort even at high volumes. They keep their composure and manage to deliver powerful and confident voices in all genres. The tweeters are audible, but neither intrusive nor annoying. They're implemented, well tuned, and do an excellent job of playing loud music. I'm happy, that they haven't integrated an intrusive DSP that automatically rolls down bass at higher volumes or limits volume based on battery life - this should be left to the user/listener and not programmed. +1 for that! Battery life is impressive, even when constantly playing over 50%. This is a wired connection via a 3.5mm jack as I hate anything wireless but I really appreciate that they gave us connection options. Material and workmanship are excellent for this price. This speaker doesn't look cheap. He has weight too. I like the design they used. It stands upright, does not take up much space on the table and cannot be knocked over. Black housing with silver-bronze side panels for smooth passive radiators, pleasing to the eye and looks good in almost any room. If I had one comment, it would be this: The sounds the speaker makes when turning on/off are cool at first, but a bit loud and intrusive. I think that could be left as it is. In addition, the loud beeps are a bit annoying when the maximum volume is reached, especially since the music stops completely for a second. At $89.99 (as of this writing), it's in the same price bracket as something like the XB. -20 from Sony. The Arizen is bigger, heavier, has a much longer battery life and produces a MUCH bigger and more immersive sound at much higher volumes. He is greater in every way. This can be both good and bad depending on what you are looking for. While you could do it personally, I think that it's a bit hard for me to think about tossing it in my backpack while commuting all day or running errands around town. For me it's more something to take on road trips, to the beach, on vacation, hiking etc. or just use it in my small room for a powerful sound. Regardless of how you use it, this speaker offers excellent value for money and should be considered if you want powerful sound in a smaller package. or just use it in my small room for a powerful sound.
