Had high hopes for a HomeKit compatible sensor but it's totally unreliable for this purpose. Even though my Wi-Fi switched to 2.4GHz, the device never connected; more than half the time, tried more than a dozen times, after reading the code of the accessory, the iOS Home App could not find it. Eton applications are also useless as they require registration and cannot detect prior authorization created on Eton website. During the initial loading time, the Blackout Buddy got too hot to touch, so hot I was afraid it might catch fire - luckily. That didn't happen. This is the worst supposedly HomeKit compatible device I've tried because I repeatedly can't even add it to HomeKit. So far, my attempts to get support from Eton's one-year product warranty have been unsuccessful. So not only is the product flawed as a HomeKit device, it's also not endorsed by the company that makes it. Don't waste your money on this product unless you need an overpriced night light.
