The item is average, not sure if it's worth the money.

The review is written about the basic model of the MacBook, but I believe nothing will change in the more expensive version, except for the numbers and fps by 10-15%. After reading material about the speed of new poppies, there were plans to abandon the stationary, connect the new Mac to the monitor and buy egpu in conjunction with 1080ti. But it quickly became clear that the high performance of new devices is just another marketing tale. It will also be a laptop in Africa. There are no breakthroughs, there are beautiful numbers in the information about the system. I work with sites, and therefore it was the smoothness of the browser, the opening of a large number of tabs, several types of browsers with many tabs, etc. that was important to me. What was my indignation that having given 150k, thank God not 200 for growth, I saw that turning pages was worse in terms of smoothness than in my old Mac. What kind of nonsense is this? Is it possible that the doubled RAM, the new 6-core processor with 12MB cache was not enough to make the scroll! pages in the browser more smoothly, without twitches, friezes, than in Mac 7 years ago?! There is also an effect of the same type as in games with a decrease in FPS on pages with complex layout. Yes, it happened in the old Mac, which has 8 GB of RAM and is already 7 years old, but it works subjectively smoother there, maybe the hertz is to blame, maybe the new display with a long response time gives such an effect, I don’t know! According to subjective sensations, there is a feeling that they stuffed the stuffing from some older poppy. But in all tests, the level of synthetic performance is absolutely normal, as with other new models. It was surprising to find that Catalina took 20 seconds longer to load than Sierra on the old Mac. Apple what the hell is this? It remains to be hoped that the problem lies in the optimization of the Catalina operating system. Another interesting point. In Safari, if you have many tabs in your favorites and you click on the browser line with the mouse, there is a dullness for 2 seconds, which occurs all the time!

Pros
  • -Screen (really noticeable difference) -Increased battery capacity (it seems to work longer than the old poppy) - Gorgeous sound (really wow effect)
Cons
  • -Performance compared to Macbook retina 2022 (i7 2ghz+8 gb), see comment - Throttling of both the processor and the video card in resource-intensive applications. I ran The Witcher 3 and Battlefield 5. After the first two minutes, the processor frequency drops to 2.2 Mhz, and the video card throttling starts after 10 minutes, when the frame rate drops from 60 to 40. The temperature is 70 degrees. As I understand it, the problem is in the power supply of the circuit. At the same time, you need to understand that there will be no smoothness even at 60 frames. In general, this is still acceptable, but why then put such processors in a laptop if they cannot work even at nominal value? What remains to be said about the i9 in a laptop and the price per rst of 230k! Marketing rules the world and brainwashes even power users.
