Great solution for pumping oil in some RV's with diesel pushrods

I used this to change the oil in our RV with diesel pushrods and rear radiator. Unfortunately, the oil filler opening is located above the cooler. Our Cummins holds 4 gallons of oil. I used a funnel, 1" PVC pipe extension, and flexible hose together and put it over the open rear engine access panel to get oil into the engine. As you can understand, with this method there is a high probability of preparing porridge, and you need to stand on a stool, lift one-liter jars of oil over your shoulders and carefully pour it, without blocking the allowable flow in the ghetto hopper. Renewal. I also kept this dirty device in the basement of our oil rig in case we need to top up oil on the road. I've been doing this for 3 years and I've realized there must be a better way. Queue this drill powered pump. I used it for the first time last weekend during our plant's annual maintenance and it worked really well with one caveat. I've already read some reviews that mention that the green hose that comes with it is too flexible and will compress when used as a suction hose for relatively high viscosity liquids like 15W-40 oil at relatively low ambient temperatures. I used the supplied green hose on the pressure side of the pump. I had 1/2" ID extra heavy wall vinyl tubing, so I used that for the suction side. The ambient temperature was about 60F when I pumped in 4 gallons of oil. I have my 20V cordless drill on medium speed ran it and everything worked great. I didn't have time but I was able to fill the entire 4 gallons into the oil filler neck in minutes. Even better, I wasn't worried about making a mess. I can't do anything about it Can't say the durability of this tool as I don't expect to use it often - hopefully just once a year - but at its price I can't complain.I was given a 1/2" barbed fitting to connect the suction and hooking up outlet hoses and chilled it all down to fit in a fairly small plastic container for me to toss in the basement of our facility.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Almost ok
