TL; The DR isn't a bad tool, but I assume the locking head isn't locking tight. So I became a mechanic and eventually made it a career. Naturally…. Tool. Between personal situations (read: wife and kids) and just personal preferences/opinions, I know that due to the significant price difference, I'll buy very few Mac/Marco/Snap-on type things, if at all. between that and something like GW is basically, but not entirely, the name on the instrument. I don't have exact data, but I would say that the 15% increase in value is due to the improvement of the tool, the remaining 85% is the brand. Just a personal assessment. After doing a lot of research and reading a lot of blogs, I got cheap on basic hand tools (I have HF picks), Milwaukee on power tools (I have no regrets at all), and I'm still experimenting with hand tools that are used every day constantly beat, the heart of your set. And this, I want to love this so much I just can't. Again, a lot of research was done before buying because I can't throw away hundreds of tools every week with 3 (yes, 3) 3/8 ratchets that broke and slipped under pressure. I needed a new ratchet for small things. Reasons I chose this: Affordable but not free. First GW brand but I wanted to try it. Length: Like any honest guy, I was happy. have a few inches more. You know, for leverage. Flex head - wanted it to be as versatile as possible. Blockage - I don't prefer bloody knuckles, and while they do feature in my work (and probably everyone considering this purchase), I wanted to minimize them, or at least not add them due to the slip tool. Pros: Durable and smooth to touch and operate. A slight bend is ergonomic, even if it's not necessary. I keep it two clicks from a straight line, even if it's not a hard-to-reach spot. I've been told there are conversion kits for this at a very low cost, so you can twist about as much as you need with the durable handle using a 3/8th disc. Cons: Large - the lock is not very strong. The feature that made me use this particular ratchet is only sometimes effective. As I've used it more, I've developed a habit of snapping my thumb to make sure the lock is engaged before unscrewing it, and the lock seems harder to close when more dirt gets into the mechanism, but I take into account that Silver Lining is not a pro and you will most likely end up with a negative opinion if it complicates the setup. To be honest, between a mid-range brand, a decent price, bells and whistles and many other things mentioned and forgotten, I really want to be like *buy it or die* but I can't. In the future I will most likely buy another 3/8 ratchet for everyday use and only use it when the situation calls for it.
