First of all I would like to say that I used this backlight exclusively for videos and pictures, not for streaming. To be honest, I think if the ring light were behind the webcam when streaming, I would find it distracting when I had to face the camera. Sometimes when I (accidentally) looked at the light, it was uncomfortable to look at. Let's proceed to set up the image and video. I will say that I don't want to rely on the wall outfit. I like that the ring light can be connected to my laptop. This alone makes it more versatile than installing a lamp. I also like that I can use the switch on the cord to turn it on and adjust the light. I used the brightest setting for videos and photos. I like that it doesn't cast shadows due to the halo effect. I've also experimented with softer whites and yellows, and I love having a great lighting system in one unit rather than changing lightbulbs. I also like that it's easy to mount on a tripod and rotates easily. The best part is that it doesn't feel hot when you need to move it. I worked for over an hour and was happy to be able to move the light without heat. If you're tired of the lightbulb system for videos and photos, I definitely recommend the ring light. As for streaming, maybe if it was on the lowest settings it could work if it was directly behind the camera. However, I would probably take two ring lights and set them aside so they are out of your line of sight.
