I thought these bulbs would be perfect for lighting my porch. Mostly regular lights and the ability to change colors for different holidays... After installing the lights I couldn't get them to connect to the app which says I need to be within 400ft even though I did was closer to 4 feet. The other step states that they need to be as close to the router when setting up. So I moved her to the lamp and literally stood next to the router. You still haven't connected. There are no instructions in the box or in the app to help. I had to look for a video on how to reset the lightbulbs (8 seconds on, 2 seconds off, repeat 4 times). Finally managed to connect the lightbulb. I tried connecting the second bulb the same way, but it didn't catch any WiFi networks (the first one saw 10 networks). After 5 more resets it finally showed my network with weak signal but connected. The problem is that the app considered both bulbs to be the same, so they couldn't be controlled independently. Eventually I figured it all out and took her out onto the porch (about 40 feet from the router). The lamps lit and retained the last color setting before unscrewing, however neither responded to the application. While working I liked the color options and the whiteness range was good. But the installation was so disappointing that they weren't worth it. I came back and found the best set with no problems.
