I've found that even if you tell the computer to only print black and white, it mixes black with colors. Tank black and drain color. so i completely phase out all my colored tanks. And then left them empty in the machine, forcing the printer to use the black tanks. There was an option on the printer screen to turn off the ink empty warning, so I pressed the button so I didn't have to clear the ink empty message every time I printed. When I need to print in color, I take the full color cartridges out of the zip pouch, put them in the machine, print, and then switch the machine back to empty cartridges. Otherwise, the device will run out of cartridges in a week if you print a lot. I also recently ordered new cartridges. Put them in and two out of three show up as incomplete on the printer screen, further compounding the injury. I will never buy a Canon printer again.
