Overall a good idea and the kit does as advertised adding rear buttons although some improvements are needed. I installed it on the JDM-040 that came with the new PS4 Pro. Pros: Buttons can be remapped on the fly and feel pretty nice. You can assign one of the shoulder buttons, 4 face buttons, or 4 D-Pad directions to each of the back buttons. This is a good option for those who want to use the original Sony controller. The controller's charging and wireless functions are not affected, and you can power on the console with the controller and use the 3.5mm headset jack, unlike some third-party controllers/mods. Soldering is not required unless you need to remap L3, R3. , or touchpad. Interchangeable back panel eliminates the need for drilling or cutting buttonholes. Cons: There were a few notable quality control issues with the kit. On the original circuit board/wiring I received, one of the four buttons didn't register and I had to request a replacement. Second, one of the key covers was darker than the others (see image). Finally, the shaping of the back panel is okay, but not perfect - the stitching in some places where the front and back meet, such as the back panel. B. on the handles, do not fit as neatly as the original shell, and you might feel a jolt when holding the controller. .The touchscreen foil to activate the override mode is not very good. When installed in the recommended location, it randomly triggers remapping mode when I place the controller on my lap. To prevent this from happening, I had to slide the foil under the light bar (see picture). I would suggest that because of this issue and because pressing L1 + R1 + D + X is annoying in game, they just add another small button to enable remapping instead of touch foil. The position of the button depends on how you hold the controller. , but for me all 4 buttons are middle finger reachable and the top buttons are in a spot where it's too easy to accidentally press them. I would prefer them to be moved lower to the handles and used with the ring or pinky finger to reach them. This may or may not be possible due to clearance issues with the vibration motors. I hope these are issues they can fix in V2 of the kit, but this works pretty well once you get used to the bugs. Edit (1 month after installation): The carbon fiber pattern has already worn off in some places after around 30 hours of play, so be careful if you choose one of the printed pattern versions. See last picture. The buttons still work perfectly.
