I don't know what this stuff is, but it worked. Softened and numbed the area around my ingrown toenail and I was finally able to get in there with my nail clippers (and the torture device-looking tools we ingrown nail sufferers invest in). As for the smell, it's not that bad, I have no idea what people were talking about. The smell is there, but it isn't an issue. A few drops in the ingrown nail crevices and a few minutes later your nail will be good enough to cut without any pain at all. I recommend adding drops whenever you notice pain or when the nail/skin starts to harden up again. Do not put it on any nail-cutting injuries you may have on your toes though, it may not be the best idea.
