My mother has rheumatoid arthritis, which makes it very difficult to hold awkwardly shaped, slippery objects. After breaking a few butter bowls, she gave up and for years just left her wrapped butter on a dessert plate on the counter. When she moved to a new apartment I wanted her to be beautiful and I ordered this for her and tested it before giving it to her. It's perfectly designed so you can either grab the butterfly or slide 2 fingers under the wings to lift the lid - viola! She doesn't look "orthopedic", she's just normal and beautiful. She can leave her oil on the counter without daily reminders of her disability. Highly recommended.
