This is a very nice table for $31. It is made of good solid wood. I don't know what kind of tree, but definitely not a pine or an oak. I think it's poplar wood. It was very easy to assemble. They included a hex key with screws and washers for assembly. The wood looks like stain. All knots are filled and sanded. They did a very good job of sanding the wood to a smooth finish. I bought this table to store my humidifier and sound machine in my bedroom. He is very learned and can carry a little weight, much more than I can. I have unfinished photos. I haven't decided yet if I want to paint or tint it.
