While I was hoping they would have wires in the ribbon part, the trade-off is that if you just want to use a hair tie, you can undo the loop entirely. You can also mix and match hair ties and bows if you like, although this can ruin the one-piece look. I don't seem to have an office style elastic like others have said, but none of them seem to have torn seams so I can't say for sure just based on how they feel. All in all good value for money, a good buy I think! As long as they last
