I was hoping this would solve the problem of feeding 4K video and 5.1 surround sound from a computer to my Pioneer VSX321 sound system. Unfortunately it didn't help with surround sound, or my system doesn't accept 5.1 over TOSLINK, I'm not sure which. On the other hand, this solved my problem with streaming apps believing my new 65" Samsung 4K TV didn't support HDCP through the sound system (both should be HDCP compliant, the nVidia control panel shows they do are HDCP compliant, some desktop apps recognize HDCP well, but streaming websites refuse to work). Somehow adding another device inline makes streaming apps happy with HDCP. don't do what I hoped.
