I bought a JideTech USB 3.0 switch due to an issue with my existing hub and it fixed everything. My existing hub is on the right and I will continue to use it alongside the new Switch for a number of reasons, but as I said the Switch does exactly what I need it to do. I don't use a keyboard or mouse over the hub, so I can't test this feature, and that's why I disabled the "Hotkeys" feature on the Switch. I have a JideTech KVM that I use and it was KVM that made me buy their switch. I also found that the included power cord isn't needed, so I don't even use it. First, let me explain why the existing hub wasn't my final decision. This required me to use two cables for two computers and manually switch the cables back and forth to switch between the computers. It worked for the most part, but whenever I used an external storage device like My Passport and the USB drive in the picture, I had to unplug the device and play with it several times for the computer I switched to to recognize the device. I had several flash drives that didn't work through the hub and a terabyte drive that required a reboot to make it work. I also had issues when I had more than one external drive plugged in at the same time, so I usually used them one at a time. The JideTech Switch does not have this problem. I was able to move from one computer to another with any flash drive and any external drive without errors. From the picture you can see that the existing 8-port hub is actually connected to the JideTech switch via the keyboard port and no longer has the problems it used to have. It's just not made for constantly plugging and unplugging the cable. I can even have multiple drives in the switch and hub at the same time, which really makes my life easier. The only downsides I have on the switch are just some personal preferences and the only reason I would leave the hub plugged in. Just in case anyone at JideTech is actually reading this, here are my suggestions for an even better product. First a little personal preference - ditch the blue wires and give us the black ones. I have already ordered a black replacement. Other suggestions I have is to place the ports on top (like in a hub) to take up less desk space. Give us the ability to turn on/off individual ports (I don't always use a headset or camera so I turn them off at this point but leave them connected to a hub), more ports because I need at least 8, and It would be nice to add a few charging ports (the two red ones in the hub charge my phone and power the speakers). If I had all of these options in the switch I wouldn't need a hub but together I get everything I need so I can still give this switch a 5 star rating. It has made my life so much easier and is worth every penny. I highly recommend this switch!
