I have ordered other spools of this type from Superior Threads and they are much thicker cardstock.

Although the first one or two spools fit well on my AQS George, subsequent spools proved to be almost useless. The cardboard bottom wears out or even breaks, leading to broken ends and tension problems. After trying several other roles in the pack, I finally gave it up. I have ordered other spools of this type from Superior Threads and they have a much thicker board that will not fray or tear or cause any problems.
