Very disappointed in Samsung

This isn't my first Samsung monitor, but it could be my last. I'm a hobby photographer, so color is very important to me. I had high hopes when I ordered this 32 inch curved monitor, but I was quickly disappointed as soon as I turned it on. I noticed right away that the color cast was gone and looked yellow. I thought eye protection mode was on. , But that's not the case. When I turned it on, it turned a lot more yellow. I tried adjusting the color using the built in controls but nothing worked, only worse. I tried adjusting it with my NVIDIA graphics card, but again nothing improved. Dynamic range seems limited and compromised, as if contrast needs to be adjusted in both directions at once. The highlights look like there is cloud veil while the shadows are too dark and lacking in detail. No amount of contrast adjustment will improve anything. When I try to lighten the shadows, the highlights get washed out. If I try to darken the light areas, the shadows become inky black. Another issue is the VESA mount, which requires you to purchase an additional $35 adapter to use, which wasn't clear in the product description. And to make matters worse, the VESA position is at the bottom of the monitor, not in the middle like most other VESA mount monitors. This is a big problem when using a VESA table stand, as even in the lowest position of the stand, the monitor sits about 6 inches above the table or other monitors that are on the same stand. Not suitable if you don't like looking at the monitor. it almost seems to fall over your head. Bottom line, this monitor is terrible. The only good thing I can say about it is that when viewing a completely black screen there is no edge blur and the black depth is truly inky black, better than most monitors I've seen. Aside from the toning issue, image detail and clarity are fine. Unfortunately, this is not enough to be even remotely acceptable. I don't know if my defect was defective or if they're all a problem, but I'm sending it back and won't take another

Pros
  • Corresponds to Samsung quality. I appreciate the big curved screen as my vision gets older!
Cons
  • Bad contrast
