I've bought several of these cases to use NVME and SATA M2 SSDs. I actually trimmed some cases to use smaller 2230 SSDs which I think would be a great alternative to flash drives. Advantages: 1. Made of aluminum. Well done.2. Fairly compact; not much bigger than a bare SSD 2280 M2.2. A little fiddling with installing and removing SSD3. Activity Monitor.4. Compatible with multiple SSDs of different sizes. Disadvantages: 1. Actually none. This is not compatible with NVME SSDs. There is another version of this enclosure for NVME SSDs, but I wouldn't recommend it or an external NVME enclosure unless you happen to have one of those SSDs lying around. In this case (M2 SATA NGFF), the 860 Evo 1 TB remained at a pleasant 39-52 °C. In comparison, the 1TB 970 Evo Plus NvME ran at 70°C in the NvME version of this case. doesn't justify the NvME version or the extra heat as all NVMEs get hotter. If you really need NvME then buy a tool-less Sabrent case as the same NVME SSD I use above runs about 5-10C cooler in a Sabrent case.
