5 stars for price ÷ features; Just note that it has a few quirks

Let's face it, you wouldn't buy it if you were willing to pay $350 for a Sony, Yamaha, or Denon receiver. You're on a tight budget and you just want something that sounds right for you. All I needed was a small receiver to which I could connect four sets of stereo ceiling speakers that were in different rooms downstairs in my house. . I don't need 7.1 Dolby and 48 device connections; just something to connect to my bedroom TV, Android streaming box and Blu-ray player. For this purpose, the Moukey receiver was perfect... and I'm willing to put up with its capabilities. This review was written eleven days after installation, so I had some time to live with it. WHAT I LIKE: • 220 watts (110 per channel) for under $70. My speakers don't have bulky speakers or anything, so they have enough power for my needs (watching TV in the bedroom, playing music in the kitchen or garage, etc.). • Bass and treble controls. Very old fashioned; I like it. • Bluetooth connection. My wife and I used our phones to stream music through the receiver; it connects to Android and iPhone devices quickly and easily. • Rugged feel. The receiver seems well built, the power button makes a nice "ca-CHUNK" when turning the unit on and off, and the Master Vol. handle has a slight ratcheting feel when you turn it. • Securing speaker connections. I prefer these plug and twist connectors to push in connectors. WHAT CAN I DO: • Strange source selection and source display. The input selection knob allows you to directly select four audio sources: DVD (RCA input), CD (RCA input), AUX (3.5mm mini phono stage input) and MP3/W. Go back to the last selection and then you can use the "Mode" button to switch between Bluetooth, USB and FM radio. It would make more sense to have those three on the input selector. The front panel LED display always shows which mode you were last using, even if the input selector is set to DVD, CD or AUX • Only two RCA inputs and no optical input. My TV's only audio output is an optical jack, so I had to buy a D/A converter to connect it to this receiver. (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B087NMNQKQ/) One of the RCA inputs is labeled "DVD" and the other is labeled "CD". I connected my TV to the CD input and used a label printer to create a small "TV" label which I placed over the "CD" label on the input selector. • Weird FM radio search function. You cannot select an FM station directly; Instead, the receiver searches for all FM stations it can receive and assigns a number to each one. Once that's done, you can use the CH- and CH+ buttons to scroll up and down through the FM channels, or type in the channel number you want on the remote (if you remember the number). This would probably annoy me more if I listened to FM radio more than I do now. His remote control is pretty much useless. The remote control cannot adjust volume or similar when using RCA audio sources; This only works if you are using USB or FM radio. That means when I'm watching TV (which I do 95% of the time with this receiver) I have to get up and turn the Master Vol. • The Bluetooth range is rather small. Using Bluetooth pretty much requires line of sight from my phone to the receiver; if something or someone intervenes, the connection is broken. SUMMARY: I needed an inexpensive stereo-only receiver and the Moukey fitted the bill perfectly. The input selection could be a little clearer and I wish it had an optical input and a handy remote control, but it's really hard to beat the value of this unit.
