Review on Derwent Lightfast Coloured Pencils: Premium Quality Set with 72 Colours in a Metal Tin (Model 2302722) by Sasha Hsiao

Derwent Lightfast Coloring Pencils are amazing pens with professional colored pencil drawing results. They are creamy and cover well. They seem to be more opaque than my other oil based crayons and I'm glad I have that option. I was able to cover a large area of the background faster. Strokes from work in other areas that could not be covered with other pens were blended more effectively. They mix well with Gamsol or colorless mixers. Beautiful bold colors! Although the palette is currently limited to 36 colors, they can be mixed together to create other desired colors and they pair well with Faber-Castell Polychromos. I found the softer Derwent Lightfast lead better for coverage and the Ploychromos for line detail, but both blend well and layer with oil painting quality. Don't worry about lightfastness - that's a bonus. I use them for fine arts, not adult coloring, but I imagine depending on the paper quality they're also very good for that purpose as they're not too hard. My experience is that the type and quality of the paper is very important when drawing/painting with colored pencils due to the many layers, blends and erasures. I love these pens!
