Review on πŸš— Brandmotion 5000-CA6 Curb Alert Park View PRO Front Camera Parking Assistance System by Terry Myers

I'm happy with: Vehicle security

I bought a curb alert with a camera. I'm happy with it, but I've only installed it for a week. Purchase and installation turned out to be more of a challenge than I expected and one must be prepared. Adding a camera costs extra money. A sensor alerts you when you're approaching a curb, and the camera lets you see what's under the hood. Let me tell you why I bought this product in the first place. At around 9:00pm, my wife and I pulled into the restaurant's parking lot, which was equipped with parking buffers. I heard a loud scream and felt a hit. Not understanding what had happened, I backed up and the curb in the parking lot ripped off the bumper of my Honda Accord. I jumped out of the car and in the dark there was my bumper, part of my front under the car and some sort of paneling that looked like soundproofing. I couldn't believe it. I looked at the parking bumper and saw that on the right side the bar holding the bumper to the ground was sticking out about two inches and when I pulled it it tore the bottom of my bumper and when I flipped it it broke my bumper is off. I packed everything up, put it in the truck and in the back seat and went to a seafood restaurant. I asked for the manager and took her outside and although she was sympathetic she said to call the owner on Monday and file a complaint. She gave me and my wife something to drink while we ate. Well, I drove the 100 miles or so home and went to the body shop and they did the repairs. I was determined to get a front camera and sensor and that led me to BrandMotion and this product. I have read all the reviews. I have an aftermarket Kenwood sound and screen system and it shows me my rear view camera; This screen became a problem. I bought a BrandMotion Border Alert with camera. You really need a professional audio video installer to do this installation. He couldn't get the passenger side ECU to work and it turned out to be faulty. I recommend buying direct from BrandMotion. They admitted they received a batch of defective parts but they fixed them and sent a replacement. When I received it and installed everything we had no picture from the curb camera video screen. The issue to be aware of is that many aftermarket music screens and dashboard screens do not have the wiring that this type of camera will work with. In other words, the rear camera is the only one that works. So I called Greg at BrandMotion Technical Support and found that I had to spend another $100 to buy their splitter so that one Kenmore outlet could handle two entry cameras. I respect the technical knowledge required to hook up the curb alert and then hook up the splitter and there were technical issues to get it all working. I advise you to call your video screen manufacturer to see if they accept this product or what is required such as a splitter. I personally think BrandMotion should anticipate this splitter problem, charge a little more and provide a splitter. But after paying more than I expected, the sensor detects the curb, the camera turns on, my Kenwood screen shows the curb and everything is fine. I was treated right by BrandMotion and their Greg, my technique is still recovering and I'm glad I spent more than I expected! All of this can be avoided by looking closely at each park edge; but at night you can't tell. So my friend, I recommend this product but find out the details first before you do.
