They come with a little sticky backing so you can stick them anywhere, and they each have a magnet and matching metal disk (the disk is what you actually stick to the surface) so they easily detach for charging. Since I haven't tried rearranging them, I can't attest to whether or not they're easy to remove. However, I believe any attempt to do so will likely leave residue and will certainly ruin the sticky foam disc. If this is an issue, sticky clay might be a better choice. They are not heavy at all and all you have to do is glue this metal disc. The magnet on the lantern does the rest. The charge lasts quite a long time. steps once. the rest is still going strong and we've had them for at least two weeks. They come with a charging plug but no charger but everyone has some sort of charger these days lol. And the motion-detection area seems fairly focused, but still activates from the side enough to be activated by two or three. in foot. Ideal for illuminating a corridor or stairwell. All in all very practical and unobtrusive. I have ordered 5 sets so far. Something for us and something as a gift. Speaking of gifts, each light comes in a separate box, so theoretically you could gift them individually.
