These boots fit my 5 year old well. They have an adjustable drawstring, but he didn't have to touch it to hold them up or keep out snow (since he wears winter pants over tops), but it's nice. They keep his feet warm and dry and have good grip. He had a hard time walking on the hard snow in his other boots and eventually lost one of his pairs when it came loose in a snowdrift. These boots have better grip and less slippage. They also dry fairly quickly if some snow is left behind and melts. They'll take a few days to dry if you need to wash them, but the lining doesn't hold up in the snow like a fleece lining.
